I have a 97 e39 540i with 264,000kilometres on the clock.
I purchased it down here in new Zealand with 38,000k on it.
Is it true when i hear from BMW mechanics that those engines are bullet-proof.My one seems to go and go,and doesn,nt use a drop of oil ! I do push it rather hard down here in rural NZ but it pulls as well now as when I first drove it home.
Is this fairly general for these particular engines.I would love to hear from others on this matter. What should i be looking out for now with that many miles on board .
