what car is this for? auto or manual? DIY or shop?
p.s. BMW states the tranny has a "lifetime fill". some would argue that the lifetime they are referring to is only 100,000 miles. it's time for a change.
If it is automatic and not acting up don't change it please . otherwise you are going for a tranny for sure. it is life time. On my 97 528I tranny was acting up between shifts. took it the dealer asked for oil change. he said I don't need 116.000 Miles. the problem was with the madulator sits on the left side of the tranny about $200. He said this madulator has a memory which remembers the way you drive and antipitate shifting for you. I am not so sure about that Any one?
Mine is 1995, 525i with 123K automatic. I went ahead and had it serviced for $120 for peace of mind. This is not some thing you can do it. They have connected equipment and flushed the old oil and refilled it with new.
That's right, it's not something you want to do yourself.
Transmission is big money if it goes, especially the V8's.
If it has to be done, let the dealer make the call, at least there's a guarantee on the job.
