Help to reset my service indicator

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the site and I am hoping someone might be able to help me. I have replaced the front brake pads and rotors on my 2005 525i. All went well until I tried to reset the service indicator. I followed the process for reseting the indicator and everything goes well until it prompts RESET and the dotted line for mileage appears, then abrubtly changes to -9000 miles, not the actual mileage. I have tried this several times and held the button longer or shorter and the same ( -9000 ) appears. Please help!!!
