Help With Radio Codes

hey guys

i know i can get the code from the dealership but (guilty as charged) i'm trying to get a code the good old free way...

can anyone help me?? since changing my battery 3 weeks ago all i listen to is the big six not that i mind it - hell no, just need the radio

BMW used Philips/Becker/Bavaria on early models. The codes where printed on security cards (anti theft measures) to be recovered from the serial numbers found on the radio chassis.

I am not so sure if it can be obtained from sources other than the Technical Hotlines. ANYONE?

check your owner's manual to see if PO left card w/code on it in the manual/folder.

There is a software available that generates code using serial number. Search e-bay.

How much? compared to what the dealer charges for the code.

Note: On some BMW radios you can obtain the serial number without taking the radio out by turning the radio off/on then pressing (if I can remember) the M button; the radio will display its own the serial number.
