Help! Hard shift into 3rd gear. 2000 528i

Just purchased a 2000 528i BMW and whenever I drive it, 1st and 2nd gear shifts smoothly. When it shifts into 3rd gear, there a bang that I feel all the way into the rear end of the car. I have already changed the transmission filter and oil in transmission. Any suggestions as to what to try next or what could be the problem?

Thanks!

Check your Guibo. Its a rubber flex disc attached to the driveshaft. They are known to fail and when they do they cause shuddering and clunking. With the guibo in the car its hard to tell if its bad, but once out you can usually see how worn out they are.
