Help! Engine Light Comes One When...

Guys,

Have you ever had this problem? I know..i know...i should've but what happened was that I ran out of gas and the ENGINE light comes on and even after I filled up the Gas tank half/way it's still showing on the dash. I drove it for about 10 miles and it's still showing.

Will it go away or do I need to reset something?

This is on my 99 528.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

take it to Autozone and ask someone to reset it for you.

Mine turn on and I replace the O2 sensor and got the code clear at Autozone.
Just ask them nicely, since some of them will not reset the code.

Thanks! I'm still at work but I'll check it out again after work. If the light doesn't go away I'll take it to Autozone. Hopefully they'll tell me what they did so I can reset it myself the next time my Gas runs out! haha. It's best to make sure your gas is not empty..

Evantually it will go away by itself once you computer goes through its repeated cycles and finds no other faults. However if it is that much annoying then you can reset it FREE at most 10 minutes lube places. Here in NJ Jeffy lube gives a reset for free for the green lights (oil change meter) plus check engine light when you change motor oil. THIS IS MINOR!

Also I can tell you what to do so you don't have to wait for autozone! get yourself a code reader/reset tool for about $135 from www.peakresearch.com

Went to Autozone and they have a ODB resetter. I'll loan it out and try it this weekend. It should help.
