HELP! E60 Volume Nob broke.

I need help!
My volume nob broke on the actual stock CD player.
Anyone else run into this problem?

I went to BMW today and they want to just replace the whole thing, which is roughly $1500, plus labor $500.

Someone please help!!

Do you have volume controls on your steering wheel?

Is the shaft that the knob slides onto actually broken or just the knob itself? If its just the knob that has broken you might be able to pick up one on ebay that is suitable.
