HELP!!! E39 525d very rough IDLE but can't fix

Please help me someone!
My car developed a problem 2 days ago & I'm at my wits end.
As I was driver my car to pick up a friend I got stuck in traffic so did a "U" turn inside Netto to go another way, anyway as soon as I completed the move the car started to judder quite heavily as though it was ticking over on 5 cylinders & NOT the 6.
I gave the car a good blast & it seemed fine until I came to a stop or slowed down to about 5MPH then the judder was back.
It's like it wants to stall but actually doesn't (The revs seems unaffected at about 750)
I got it to my local & he told me that after disconnecting the injector connectors 1 by 1 the only injector that seemed NOT to affect the vibration, wobble, judder further was injector No.3
After removing the injector we found the injector completely gunked in BLACK semi solid goo including the housing for the plug.
He cleaned this (after about 25 minutes) & To save money (as I didn't want to spend stupidly by finding out it wasn't the injector) he fitted a second hand one just to confirm it was the injector.
THIS MADE IT WORSE!!
Now really really bad judder & this remains even when I revved it plus lighter more whitey blue smoke not pouring out even at idle speed.
He then put an injector probe onto the injector connector to see if the power was reaching the injector & the light was pulsing away nicely (Which to him showed it might be the replacement injector at fault.
He then swapped injector 2 with injector 3 but the problem STILL remained with cylinder 3.
PLEASE HELP ME AS I CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER FUEL PUMP FIASCO.

How much realistically am I looking for repair & how long does it usually take
Work involved etc?

I couldnt really say to be honest, depends where you take it, what I would do is a compression check on that cylinder also if you can get a live diagnostic done that will give you virtually what the problem is.

I've been told it's a screw of the butterfly valve that has fallen into the cylinder.
Does this sound about right?
He also told me about £7-800 to repair, is this about right as I'm really not happy about this cost

It could well be, I do recall a problem with the butterfly screws before....so its head off time whether its a screw or a valve seat Im afraid as for the price shop around a bit, there are plenty of workshops with hardly any work or DIY.
