Exclamation HELP! Control Arm Bushings Question

Prior to purchasing my 528i , '99 I had a mechanic check it out and he tested for any vibrations in the rotors or control arms. All was Good, w/ no vibrations. I went into a mechanic recently and he found cracked control arm bushings, but I still have no vibrations. The estimated total is $475. Should I fix it now or wait? I was told, by waiting I could do further Pricey $$$ damage to the front calipers. Is this a reasonable price for such a job or should I look else where?

The two bushing are about $60, however the control arm is about $120 each, if they are going to replace the whole both arms then it is worth it, so you're better check what exactly they are going to replace.

There is a very reputable dealer on e-Bay, FCP Groton (FCP = Foreign Car Parts), that sells high quality entire front end kits consisting of both control arms, with bushings already pressed in, plus tie rod ends, and in the case of the 6-cyl E39s, they include sway bar endlinks as well. The entire kit is something like $449 for the I-6 5-ers and (in a rare case of economy) only $315 for the 540M5 kit.

I think that's your best deal. Replace it all for about what it would cost to replace just two arms and bushings.
