Help! CEL sequence in '89 525i - BMW Forum

We have an '89 E34 (525i). Recently replaced the fuel pump assy (including fuel sending unit) and the CEL occasionally flashes a sequence - one short, one long, four shorts. What could be the meaning of that?

Do you have a pic of the display that shows this? I don't think there's any real meaning. I think it's bit of a fault in the unit.

A pic of the Check Engine Light? No, I don't have a picture. It will periodically flash that sequence, maybe 8 or 10 times, and quit. It may start up again later. It's been doing it on and off for the three weeks since we got our fuel pump. The sequence is ALWAYS exactly the same, which is why I thought it might have some kind of meaning.

I'm quite sure it's a fault with no meaning. The OBC in my E30 has done similar random flashing for a long time.
