Well, it will be electrical if the Dash is out... Maybe something (a fuse or Module) needs unplugging and re-plugging, sometimes this works! It has for me in the past...

What motor do you have?
Generally speaking, the crucial Modules are usually under a plastic cover behind a strut in the engine bay... Others can be found under either footwell inside the car!

Right, apparently the ignition barrel is a common fault (causing the dash not to activate/illuminate)... This is your first item to look at - Remove the trim and inspect the wiring... Does the dash occasionally light up if you wobble the key while turning it?

the fob doesnt work for anything when i open the door manually or the boot manually the alarm goes of when i open the door not when i turn the key or anyting
