I"m thinking of getting an illegal (in Canada) modification to my 528i headlights. I can buy a Hella upgrade that installs the Xenon light bulbs. The reason that it is illegal is that in Canada, you have to have self levelling Xenon lights, these won't self level. My thinking is that no cop will ever figure out I'm running illegal lights as they will look just like any other BMW with Xenon lights.
Here is my question. The store I was going to buy it from was going to "clear it out" for me and reduce the price. In passing, he said for the reduced price he was going to remove the warranty. Of course as soon as he said this I decided there must be a reason he was removing the warranty.
So I talked to Chris at one of the BMW dealerships in parts and he said that he couldn't recommend or not recommend the Hella install and said they would do it for me if I wanted. However, he said he had heard of some installs where the low beam check light came on permanently.
Of course, I don't want to be staring at the low beam check light for the rest of eternity so I passed on the light install.
Has anyone done the Hella Xenon install on their car and had problems with it. This is a cheaper add on, only $500 Canadian so cheaper in the States. What say ye.
