I recently bought a 94 525i BMW to get wife outa my 3 series. So i know a little bit about BMW but not alot. First brought the car home, heater worked fine. All four fan settings worked. It sit for 2 weeks and now the heater fan wont kick on at all. Drove it three days like this, started it up tonight and the fan instantly started working. Come back out an hour later and the fan no longer blows. I have checked all the fuses, everything seems to be good. switched relays around, clapped my hands three times and everything else people said might be the problem online. Nothing has worked so far. And every relay, circuit board, ect. is not anywhere they say it is. I have half the dash torn apart and would greatly appreciate any advise on how to fix this issue. Its about to drive me crazy.
the best way to get to the fan is actually under the hood at the base of the windshield. I has the same problem on my 328i I replaced the fan and put a new cabin filter in now it works every time I use the car.
Considering the fan does work once in a while, dont really want to jump straight to replacing it. The dash is torn apart enough to see there is a 15 inch box with clips around it just behind the stereo and heater controls. Is this the heater box or some other gadget BMW decided to throw in <confused>
