Question Heat blows cold then hot ????

I have an 01' 530i and when I turn on the heat after I see that the car has warmed up, it blows out cold to room temp. Then later on in my drive it will blow out hot to very hot. Then it will go back to cold again. I'm not sure what the problem is. Any ideas?

You may want to check your coolant. It may be low even though your gauge reads fine.

Thanks. Do you think there could be an issue with the thermostat?

lol there is always an issue with the thermostat on the E39, the issue is that it sucks. Could yours be stuck, well yeah, how many miles ago was the last time you replaced it?
