Hi,
When I start the car (E39) at day light, after a few minuets, a red square light on the Hazard button comes automatically on and remains on for about an hour after I switch off the engine.
Any one have experienced a similar problem or knows why this square red light comes on.
Thank you forwardly.
Kind regards,
Buzuzih

No one had ever had or came across this kind of problem.
I would appreciate any opinion.
Thank you
Thank you Denyo77 for your kind interest.
The thing is that when I remove the battery connection, obviously that the flasher red square light will go off, but if I will connected again after an hour, I have to start the engine to have the red light comes on.After I switch off the engine, it will remain on, even for two days, unless I will disconnect the battery.
Strange, but it happened to me.
Best regards,
Bil
Do you have the owners manual? With that or other help, you can try replacing the turn signal flasher unit as a start. If it's a wiring issue, more searching may be needed.
Hi DENYO77,
Good morning.
Thank you for your reply.
I had talked to an auto electrician two weeks ago, that works on BMW and he suggested to change the switch. It happen that my son was in Germany and he brought me one two days ago. Had it changed, but the problem still the same. No short circuits, the only thing that I have to check is the relay.
If any one who can help, I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks to all concerned.
Best regards,
Buzuzih
Hi Witeshark,
Have changed the relay and remained with the same problem.
There must be an other thing, maybe a sensor, that maybe it will activate the switch. The switch will not flush, it only lights up a square red light. The flushing signal lights function normally.
Thank you again

The car I bought it new in 1997. The square red light is now that is being coming on as up to a few weeks ago it was never seen on.
I took it to an auto electrician to day and changed the relay, which he did in front of me, and remained with the same problem.
Thank again.
Best regards,
Buzuzih
No modifications in wiring / dashboard made or change of stereo.
Headlight switch not changed, but had noticed that it goes on with the hazard square red light at the same time without having any outer lights on.
