Lightbulb Have an idea for cup holders for my e39. Need your input please.

Replace the cupholders just to have them break again, or have a drink fall out when I take a turn? No way!

See photo:

1- find an insert to fit the dimensions.
2- cut and drop into rectangle space.

How can I gain access, so I can see what is under the black panel next to the ash tray?

Cool

I like the idea. What type of "insert" did you use?

I had an alternate plan.

I did not want to cut up the plastic just to find that i did not have the necessary clearance.

The idea came to me when searching for BMW cup holder on ebay, and came across an insert for a saab or civic, don't remember which.

I did both for under $12. It looks factory, even fooled my mechanic at first glance.
I plan on doing a write up for the board when I have a chance.

You're in Brooklyn, maybe we can meet up and I can show you. Even help if you'd like.
Also, I know that there is a BMW Club that meets in the Kohls/Best Buy Parking lot. Have not been down there this summer.
I am not sure if it is for 3 series, or BMW enthusiasts.
