I own a bmw e28 524td .......and I want to swap the diesel engine with a gasoline engine......can I use the turbo and all the turbo related components on the gasoline engine........the gasoline engine is a bmw e34 2,5l 24v.....can someone give me advice on this kind of swap???

The turbo from the diesel will not adapt to the gas engine.

Why is that?It has something to do with the fact that the pistons have differences?maybe some forged pistons could help me??

Nah! You can not put a diesel turbo on a petrol engine, just wont work.

Have you also thought about all the wiring changes, ECU, and instrument cluster as this is calibrated for a diesel engine so will give false readings apart from the fuel & temp.

So to sum up: you will need all the engine management looms out of the donor car, cluster and ECU, which will need to be re-programmed (maybe).

Also you are changing models,so most of the terminal blocks, wire colours will be different.

ok.....I got the picture......thanks for the help......but where could I find a turbo kit......but something that works well with bmw engines

Hmm i heard about some people using the 524td manifold on the M20 straight 6? the turbo is pretty much the same

IS there something wrong with the TD engine? If not, it begs the question, why the hell would you want to get rid of that wonderful engine! And, if you want a turbo BMW, why put it in a fugly old E28 with all the wrong gears and wiring? Just find a gas model that is worth having a tubo and save yourself alot of headaches and funny looks!

diesel engines can handle way more boost then a gas engine, i'd look for something smaller or consider building a stronger engine
