H1 Headlight Bulb Wattage

Hello Everyone,

A while back I bought a pair of european smiley elipsoid headlights to replace the old, broken, wore out U.S. spec headlights in my 89 525i. Since this car is not my primary vehicle, I installed the headlight assemblies and 60watt bulbs for dims and 100watt bulbs for the high beams but haven't driven it since. I read a while back that 100watt bulbs may produce to much heat and could possibly melt the assemblies. Knowing this and not wanting to replace my investment due to foolishness, what H1 bulbs are recommended for use in these vehicles with Euro spec headlights for both the low and high beams?

Any help would be appreciated,
