Both are great........ but one is a Toyota. You are asking the question on a BMW forum, what do you think the answer is giong to be? :P

The figures above are for a GS300 he is interested in a GS400. The Lexus has a softer more luxurious ride, the 540 is more about driving and having fun. The BMW will out handle the Lexus all day. The 540 gets my vote.
The lexus is a lot softer ride, and will have softer seats, etc.
The BMW is a lot firmer ride with firmer seats. Iknow im only mentioning two things, but IMO the BMW is a lot lot better for LONG drives, it keeps you well supported and not feeling sick.
This is important to me because i get motion sick easily. The lexus for short trips though is really really comfortable and enjoyable.
To me, the lexus is your everyday drive because you have to , so why not be in a smooth car and enjoy it... while the BMW is the drive because I love to drive and I want to tear up the streets because I know my car can. lol
Both are great cars though - but the Lexus is gonna have the edge in reliability / maintenance costs.
There is no comparison. 540 will eat the Lexus on performance.
I guess it depends what you want in a car.
For most of us the answer to question is obvious.
I really doubt that. they both have medium sized v8s. The 540 will just have the edge in suspension - which most people wont even push to the limits in a daily driver.
okay, first off, its a fucking 540i. THose things are fucking beasts. you put the pedal down, thing just fucking goes. put the pedal down in a lexus and it thinks about it, then makes you comfortable, and by that time the 540 is already 2 miles ahead of you. get the 540 if you planning on living and the lexus if you want to sleep in your car.

I take it you've never driven a GS400 before... People that are going to help should at least know what they're talking about.
