Grinding/humming noise when I accelerate between 50mph-65mph
Can anyone give me a clue as to what might be wrong with my 2002 540i automatic it has 122,000 miles.
I get this grinding/humming noise it sounds like it's coming from the front right side engine area or wheel area when I accelerate between 50pmh-65pmh. I thought is was just the road but I have noticed that it does not do it when I have the car in sport mode. (If you have ever drove over a cattle grate that scares the cattle from crossing the road, it sounds just like that)
Also I get this vibration from the engine when the car is shifting from 2nd(20mph) to 3rd gear and 3rd to 4th(30mph to 40mph) when I am going slow in bumper to bumper traffic. If I get on the freeway with no traffic and am going fast it does not do it. Also it does not do it when I am in sport mode. Could it be a seal leak in the transmission??
My repair shop says that I also need to replace my transmission mounts could this be it??
I just had my alternator replaced and battery.
