Hi guys i was wondering if i could have some help here. I'm looking at an 89 535is standard swap. Comes with 19 inch BBS RS and set of winters on stock bmw rims. Has a custom cam, cold air but it does not start. Believe the issue is the crank sensor the issue is no spark from what ive been told. If i pick it up for around a grand is this a good deal?
If their legit BBS rims then the wheels alone are worth it. How mechanically inclined are you? A crankshaft position sensor is relatively easy to fix. What do you mean by "custom cam"?
ya pretty sure their legit bbs cause i offered him $800 and he asked for $1000 saying the tires are worth $1200 alone. The guy said something about the cam i think that its a high out put or something. I have a guy that knows a lot about bimmers that will work on it for about $50 an hour. The guy im buying it off of is also going to tow it where every i need it.
Well of he's willing to let a set of rims and tires go for that cost and through in a free BMW how can you say no? But if he's willing to let it go without taking the rims off I'm led to believe a couple things:
- he doesn't have a spare set and wants the car gone
- theirs something majorly wrong that makes it worthless.
- theirs something minor that he thinks is major and doesn't want to fix it.
I cant say for sure cause I will never meet the seller but if it's #3 then your getting a good deal. Even as bretski said, parting out will net you a profit. Parting it out takes time and patience though.
