Geuss how much for A/c repair?!?!?!

So I took my car to Crumley's Auto repair, the best BMW, Audi, Porsche, Landrover, Mercedes, and Jaguar specialist, to check out my recently warmer a/c. Well turns out the compressor is leaking from the front . Geuss how much it is going to be to replace with a Denzo compressor which is not a genuine BMW compressor but supposedly makes compressors for BMW!!!! Just geuss I will post the price later.

800? i have same car my car does not kick out any real cold AC anymore. its due for a conversion to the newer compressor specs. meaning even if it were possible or legal to get the freon for the older type. one can i heard would cost $800. my mechanic said he would do the conversion, and test for leaks. thats after taking out the old compressor, which cant have freon in it since it is illegal to let freon out into the open air. so i just deal with it as of now. good thing 3 series AC is real cold!!!
id say you are getting ripped off by 30-50% mark up at that service station, for parts and labor. Thats why im happy and lucky to have found a mechanic who owns his own shop on his ranch. <<And hes a german master technician for BMWS!! He has a longhorn ranch, go figure. haha

The diagnosis is the front of the a/c compressor is leaking. They charged it and it works awesome but they said they didn't know how long it would last maybe a few days or a whole season. Anyways its not good for the environment to have freon leaking into the atmosphere so I want to get it fixed so it stays cold! Here in Georgia it gets VERY hot and humid so A/C is almost an must have! They are ordering a compressor from Denzo who makes BMW's compressors and this compressor has updated specs I think because they have to replace the mounting stuff along with the receiver drier of course. I know its allot but I know I can trust these guys Crumley and I go way back and he would not rip me off and he does very good quality work.

ozarkmark is an unknown quantity at this point
thats about what I paid for my a/c compressor replacement a few years ago... but mine was an actual OEM unit. I didn't replace the drier at the same time which was a gamble, but it is working fine still.

Cool

oo-la la... la'h, la'h... too bad youse are all sooo far away from me...

given the circumstances. change compressor(remanufactured), flushing your system of dirt and unwanted debris(or retrofit fr R12 to R134a); determining integrity of your expansion valve, evaporator, condenser - and filter drier replaceded as a given with a new compressor; evacuated, vacuum checked for leaks, and re-charged to manufacturer's specs.... $650.- with a 90 day warranty parts and labor.

am no professional mechanic, but that is my price for friends that have me do their cars; and my work standard is aircraft grade... comparable or better to any ASE certified tech.

Work to be done in my hangar, and i'll even share beers with you after the work is done
