Okay here is the dilly o, 2000 540i, auto, 100k, silver, m5 wheels, comes with all options. The only problems is the display where it tells you the miles like a total of 5 lines are going out. Other issue is looks like the very bottom up under the engine where the bumper covers hangs alittle, like someone got to close to a parking block. then minor scuff on bottom of rear bumper. Seats are in perfect shape and all other interior. They are asking $14,980. I am trying to get them down to 12 something. I know its auto, and I am kinda sitting on the fence cause of the auto thing, but the car will haul ass past most street cars. I now have a 323is with somethings done to it that is a 5 speed. So whats everyones opinion on it?
manual 540i's are sweet. I would buy one in a second... but maintenence will be a big difference from you 323...
also remember that its a much heavier car and you won't have the same fun on the twistes...
The pixel issue will probably run you between $350-$500 done thru BMWNA. I have an auto myself ('97, 81K) but the manual is better, except during heavy traffic.
Check the usual maintenance/service records if any. The car is due for the 100k mile service which includes plugs (easy to do), oil change, radiator/brake lines flush, general inspection, etc. Most likely you have the original battery. They usually last 7-8 years. Check the rotors as well. Sounds like you drove the car already. Was there any shaking? check control arm bushings. Also, check how old the clutch is. This can cost you a bit of $$.
Does it have the sport package? If so, that's a good price. Go for it.
The dash cluster would actually run you a little higher...more around $600 to $800 with labor. I don't think BMWNA would entertain you since it's over 100k miles.
In case you're wondering, sport package would include shadow trimmings around the windows instead of chrome, staggered wheels, sport seats, steptronic transmission, sports steering wheel.

I noticed the steering wheel said //m and it has the 5 gears for the auto and seats have the part that extends out for you legs, so i am guessing it is the sport one. What else does the sport package give you on a 540i.
With the sport package, you get a tighter suspension & lower profile tires, seats are different & the trim around the window is dark instead of chrome.
I still have the 323, I gave that too my wife. We trader her 04 civic on the 540. I will try to get pics of both of them. Shoot my wife has a good looking hooked up 323 now, LOL. Spoiled woman!!!
