Rather than explain the whole story, I'll just say I purchased a 1994 540i today without the benefit of driving it first. I'm no idiot so rest assured I basically stole this car.
While driving home on the freeway, I noticed the front suspension was shot. One good bump in the road sent me on a bouncing frenzie. At one point, it bottomed out.
I'd planned on doing a mild lowering job on it, and because the existing suspension is shot, and I've lowered everything except a BMW, can someone out there recommend the best parts and methods for me to achieve the best looks and performance?
There is a site here that rates most of the common combination setups

I'm in the process of doing the springs struts shocks on my 89 525i. I'm also changing the thrust arms and ball joints. I rebuilt the callipers while I was under there as well. Most people recommend bilstein shocks and eibach or H&R springs. There are deals on e-bay if you look. Everyone I talk to says front end parts use Lemforder.
on my e39 I am using Koni shocks and H&R Springs... H&R also has a coilover setup too which would probably be one of the "best" but i know my setup is pretty damn good...
