Has anyone removed the front bumber from a 2004 530i. I need to replace the RF crash sensor. Also are there steps that need to be taken when replacing the crash sensor? The last thing I need is all the airbags going off!!
I have on a 2003 530i. Look at your fog lights. The black surround piece has two plastic rivets holding it in place. Carefully remove the plastic pins (I carefully use a small screw driver). With both pins removed the plastic cover comes right off. Underneath you will see a torx nut (large one). Remove both of them (you need to do the same for the other fog light cover) and the bumper cover slides right off. Don't forget to disconnect the fog lights. It helps to have someone helping you.
Also, when replacing the front crash sensor just disconnect the negative terminal on your battery and let the car discharge. You'll be able to disconnect the sensor and replace it without setting off any kind of airbag. Anytime you work with anything electrical in your car just disconnect the battery and save yourself the grief.
