Fluid changes

I recently bought a 1999 528i wagon and just hit 100,000 miles. When I asked BMW to change the trans and rear end fluids they told me it was sealed for life. I found that a bit hard to believe, and now have seen some references by other owners who say they have changed their cars fluids. Any info on this would be appreciated.

I did a whole bunch of write-ups and posted procedures you need to know on how to fix/maintain common problems:

- MANUAL TRANS AND REAR DIFF TIPS:
REAR Diff & MANUAL Trans Fluid Change: Tips and Tricks
(NOTE: I filled by tubing, i.e., by gravity, No NEED for the hand oil pump, which is messy to use).

- COOLING SYTEM OVERHAUL. Read through this post and the replies:

Thanks for the very well thought out and photo illustrated DIY example. I appreciate your documenting and sharing the process.
