I love spring! I am so excited that it finally has arrived here in Michigan. I got to spend a number of hours cleaning my new 540 wagon! After giving her a thorough bathing it was time for wax - she really needed it. I used the Zymol cleaner/polish this time because the finish was a little swirly any way and I figured it would need a professional wheeling eventually. I am happy to say that I was wrong! The Zymol made her Jet Black finish shine like she's new. I am also happy to say that after 8 years of service and over 80,000 miles there is not a single ding in the sheet metal - also VERY happy about that. I did find a couple areas on the front bumper trim that could use some attention - like new trim because of deep scratching, but trim is easier to fix than metal. I am sad to say that I did find some small rust spots (bubbling only under the paint) - though I think I'm not too worried because of where they are. One on the rear window/hatch frame underside and one under the driver's side mirror on the removable panel/mirror mount. Nothing on any "body" sheet metal, phew!
I got the interior all cleaned up too. Cleaned and treated the leather, used some plastic polish (the stuff that removes cloudyness from plastic windows) to remove some small scratches in the wood trim, vacuumed, and replaced the winter mats with the carpet mats. Looks like a brand new car on the inside now
I'm really happy with my new BMW and understand what all the fuss is about from the people on boards like this one. Cheers to all on Bimmerwerks
