chip and exhaust.... for about 15hp = 600 - 800 dollars ghead
i would say stay away from intakes on this car... someone on bmwe34.net tested and proved that it actually gains no power, and only sucks in close to 200 percent more dust into the engine... that much dust cant be good.
turbo would probably be the best solution if can afford to spend about 4k on a car this old... good for about 300hp at the wheels. you would also need new clutch and a ton of other stuff..
ive got the SAME exact car same year and yes, i had to pay for it MYSLEF too.. i did a few mods to it already, like suspension, lights, ets.. luckily i already had wheels on it!! i am currently working on the exhaust with a friend of mine in his garage.. here is a couple pics of it:
ps.. i think it would look a lot better without that stripe! but thats just me..
i hope you enjoy it!! i sure with i could afford something like a newer 540 or an M5, but this is all i got, and im not complaining at all.. the car sure is fun!! good luck with yours
Well done.......you'll appreciate the car more because YOU paid for it !
Forget about horespower.........unless you can spend big dollars you will never lite things up anyway.Slap a nice set of wheels on,drive the car,and enjoy yourself.
Good luck.
I'd replace all the old speakers with better speakers which is what I am about to do with the my "new" 1997 528i. I'm more a cosmetic kind of guy than a performance guy.
Any dings and tiny dents can be taken out by a dent guy. A dent guy came and worked on my car for about an hour and took out four very small dents for around $150 and they disappeared.
The car didn't have a bra so the front hood and area has a lot of chips so tomorrow it goes in for a hood paint job, but with the rest of the paint, small scratches will be touched up, and any other scrap marks touched up. The panels around the hood and hood will be clear coated to match up. This will cost around $650. Even now if you stand about 8 feet away the body looks new, I want it to look newer.
Take the car to an excellent detailer and see what they can do in the interior. You will be amazed at what can be fixed, that problem in the seat or the stain the seat belt can be made to go away, as well as the nick in the door panel.
