Bought my first BMW last Saturday, a 1995 540i. The body is pin straight but had some deferred maintenance and a discounted price, so ....

I'm familiar with German cars, have had two Porsches, a Quattro and a VW.

Tires are on the way from Tire Rack and I'm getting ready to order 2 struts and 2 shocks with mounts - going Bilstein HD.

I have a mechanic I use for suspension work who is going to check out anything else the suspension needs.

So ... I may have a 100 questions but am waiting to read the Owners Manual - it's coming UPS from Amazon.

Okay! I'll ask.

(1) The switch for the sunroof is gone. Where is a good place to (a) get the switch and (b) figure out how to troubleshoot the sunroof.

(2) It's an Automatic - a A5S 560Z . The shifter switch is flimsy and I would prefer to replace the entire shifter assembly with a new one but can't find it. When in the driveway, I thought it went from D into R - and I don't want that happening on the road Any ideas?
