After almoust a year of driving 94` 540, I didn`t even wanted to look at any other car. The car was sweet to drive, but had high miles (212 000 - still ran strong.....), and I had some other plans, and I sold it......
Drove a bucket for awhile (1985 318 - I never stayed without BMW ) and todayI came acrossd a car... THE car... burgundy 1994 BMW 540, 109k miles (*pretty low, I think), fully loaded with 2 year warranty for 9200 out the door... Is it worth it?? I drove it - sweet as hell, just CHECK ENGINE light went on while driving, I did light blinking test ans it came out 1212, O2 sensor I believe. Other than that, automatic shift lever shifts kinda hard (to all positions), I hope it`s got nothing to do with transmission itself, I`ll take a look at that. SAtrange, but no front shimmy while braking, which is very common for used E34, because of lower control arm bushings wear... Cars drive very nice, feels much fresher and less used than my old 540 - it has twice less mileage... Should I jump on it?? I don`t have much time, my heart says "go for it" my mind says hold on your horses, but I beliebe i`ll buy it... what do you folks think? Is it wort it? I really liked the car
Btw, the shifter being hard... I think it's normal because of the M-mode... they don't want it just slipping through gears when u dont want that... its just like that on my dads 525...
my car that didnt have the mode selection, its easy to move
Thanks Torque, I think I`ll gbo for it.. Especially with warranty for 2 yrs, which cover almoust everything, including sensors, I`ll get it. Will take pictures. Here`s my old BMW: http://members.cardomain.com/besteuroparts
My first and biggest "upgrade" will be "518"badge on it, :wink :wink :wink
Cheers!!
get them to knock some of the price off since the engine light is on. and it prolly is just O2 sensors on a car with that mileage they seem to start to go bad around then. or i supposed it could be a cat. too.
