Hi -

on my '95 525i touring the fan speed control (center rotary knob) only works on the highest setting for both heat and ac (all the way to the right). Is there a fan speed control I need to replace or what might the problem be.

I'd appreciate any input.

Sounds like the electronic fan speed cntroller to me. Its a fairly common problem and its pricey. You might want a pro confirm it for you

I had the same exact thing happen on both my '92 525i 5-speed and my '93 525i automatic. They both needed the 'blower resistor' replaced. I bought the part for about $20 from the dealer and did it myself in about 15 minutes. The part is located above the accelerator pedal on the transmission tunnel. Just unscrew that little piece of carpet (you do not have to remove any plastic panels) and you will see it. Mine looked like a little blue box about 2 1/2 inches square. Good luck.
