im new to the forums, and this is my first post so please be gentle lol. i have a 99 540I 6 speed, and my question is, i keep seeing pics of 540's with dual exhaust, how can you do this ? i've had mine on the rack a few times to get a look under there and it looks like the fuel tank is in the way. i'm loading a couple pics up too so you can see mine.
eismann makes a dual for your car as well. its just for looks, not performance, but it exists. its price when i looked last was like ~$2000. Its basically just a muffler and a seperate pipe that runs around the spare tire and goes out the other side of the bumper with a tip on the end to give it a dual exhaust look.
You can have one built for you and save yourself some money. An exhaust system is pretty easy for any muffler or performance shop to build. All they need is some stainless steel piping and a mandrel and you're set. Go to a muffler shop and get an estimate or performance shop. It's much simpler to go that route vs. buy a fake dual exhaust system. It'll sound right, it'll flow right, and more importantly it'll look right.
