EWS- Won't Start

Hi, I'm having issue starting the car. I have a 6-speed, 1998 540i. I think the EWS is failing, but not 100% sure. I turn the ignition key and nothing happen, but if I jump the two black wires that connected to the EWS and turn the key, the car will start but the radio will not turn and the abs light is no. How do I attack this problem?

Are you referring to the module behind the glovebox or the ignition itself?
