OK first post for me, and this is my first bimmer. I have read around about the infamous ticking sound that comes from m62, but I am not certain what I have is the same thing.
My friend has the exact same car but a year older, m62 non-vanos, and he doesn't have this.
A few months back I figure it was because the previous owner didn't put the right oil, so I did a oil change to Royal Purple 15w-40(which the manual suggested for my climate). But alas, the sound is still there.
The sound comes out when the engine is at running temperatures, and at Idle. It seems to go away when I add any throttle, but quickly returns when the rpms are low.
Any suggest will be appreciated.
