Eml Light On--i Have Codes +more--help !!

First off thanks for having me on this site, and I will try to be as brief as possible, yet w/ all the info needed.

2000 528i mileage 118,000

ABS light has been on for about 6 months, yet no problems w/ braking system at all.

EML light used to go on at it's leisure for about 2 weeks now, and now is constantly on as well as service engine light. With this light on, the vehicle's power does not accelerate right, and car does not go past 45mph. Sometimes even 30 or 35mph.


Dealer said they need to rebuild main computer and also need new ABS computer. Grand total= $3,000....uhhhh, NO.


I then go to credible BMW shop and they give me these codes(dealer would'nt release codes)

ABS---- 88 PRE CHARGING PUMP FAULT OC 248
81 PRESSURE SENSOR, LINE OC 255
33 WHEEL SPEED SENSOR, FT LT TRANSMIT -NO SIGNAL


DME---- 169 ($A9)
MDK OUTPUT STAGE ERROR
100 ($64) ECU SELF TEST

EGS---- 145 ($91) CAN: MOMENT REDUCTION
149 ($95) CAN: WHEEL SPEEDS

Not sure if the $$ stated have anything to do with codes stated, but they were in the description.

The ONLY work that has been done to the vehicle which it needed was spark plugs changed. There was a misfire in #5 because the WRONG plug was in there apparently, that was about a year ago.

This new place said they have NO IDEA what it could be off hand, yet said that with $1,500 they could completely rebuild the computer and fix the acceleration/EML problem, but the ABS light will still stay on. Kinda fishy huh ?

ps: Also i've noticed the car has been burning more gas than usual

ANY HELP PLEASE ??

Have ya'll seen this before in this full detail or can give some credible advice ?

I would start with this one:

33 WHEEL SPEED SENSOR, FT LT TRANSMIT -NO SIGNAL

Replace the Front left wheel sensor....looking from the rear of the car.

Why do you recommend this first ? Have you seen the issue before ?

Yes, wheel speed senors will send out erroneous errors and I always start at the bottom/cheapest error 1st obviously this is up to you. If you go this route you will have to get the errors erased after you fit this.

No other ideas at present, I just eliminate them one by one, as I say a lot are erroneous errors which ride on the back of others.

The worse case scenario would be the ABS module has died, but start with the W/S/S as this is part of that system.
