>> EASY ONE: 2003 530 E39 Intermittent Stall - Done everything but replace the car.
Help: I am on the verge of selling my BMW for £1000’s less than its true value all due a stall issues that no one can fixed.
E39530i M-tech Auto: 110k, well serviced. My first car owned for around 3yrs
now. No problems until this year.
Symptoms:
1. While moving off from traffic lights revs drop, loss of power and car stalls. even when car is fully warm or cold.
2. Instant stall while moving at speed in either 1 or 2 gear, normally during gear changes or coming off an around about, car rolls to a stop and traffic jam builts up behind.
3. Changing from park to drive or reverse to drive car stalls when applying the gas pedal after.
---
No error codes or engine warning lights or misfires...sometimes when it has stalled, it starts up fine first time other times its doesn’t want to start until a few turns or its starts and immediately stalls or start with rough idle and stall.
Currently I have:
Replaced with new Original BMW part, in this order:
MAF – Was initially noted that the engine didn’t stall with the MAF unplugged, so MAF replaced but issue reappeared a few weeks later.
Crank senor – During one of the stall, a crank error message appeared. No errors have been logged since.
Fuel Pump – replaced due to low fuel pressure, now normal.
Fuel Relay – Just for the hell of it.
The car has been with BMW “expert” for weeks but he has not been able to resolve the issue and I have ended up picking up the bill. The car has improve greatly with each one of these new parts but the original fault is still there and I just feel like there is one small missing piece remaining to resolve the issue.. come on you geniuses, help me remain in the BMW club, as if I have to buy a new car now then it cant be BMW at the moment, I will have to go for a normal car as BMW are no longer in my budget.
2 types .. the standard hand-hell device, same as AA/RAC and a device plugged into the diagnostic socket to record the stats of the car during normal day-2-day driving. Car did stall once during this time but no error messages and temp/pressures figures where inside the normal levels expected. The device did not show the stall or cut off. All professional kits were used.
Let me know if you need the actual name/models of the device. I will ask him for them.
