E60 530i How to Retrofit DVD CCC

Hello team,

This is my first post and I hope it will be beneficial to others. I am in Melbourne, Australia and have two BMW 530i e60 2004 sedans.

Vehicle 1 features:
- DVD CCC (Two disc slots)
- 8.8” Screen
- Force feedback iDrive (High)
- 6 stack CD (glove box)
- GPS
- TV

Vehicle 2 features:
- Standard CCC (Single disc slot)
- 6” Screen
- Standard iDrive (Low)
- 6 stack CD (glove box)
- GPS
- Bluetooth

I want to upgrade and install the CCC, Screen, iDrive and TV features from vehicle 1 into vehicle 2. I am selling vehicle 1 and keeping vehicle 2.

1.) Is this possible? Yes/No?
2.) Is the TV tuner a separate module? Or is it inside the CCC? I want to know if the TV feature will transfer to the second vehicle or if there is another module I need to remove and install?
3.) Will the Bluetooth feature stay in vehicle 2 after the new CCC is installed?

I have successfully removed the 8.8” screen and iDrive (high) from vehicle 1 and fitted into vehicle 2. I can mount the CCC into the dash, however I have met a problem with the CCC wiring loom. I have tried to attached some pictures to highlight the issue I met.

4.) I found the DVD CCC has 5 plugs and cables (vehicle 1). The Standard CCC has 4 plugs and cables (vehicle 2). Please see the back of the CCC units in the pictures I’ve attached. Also I have attached a picture of the cables exposed in both vehicles.
5.) Now I am one plug short in vehicle two. How can I fix this? What is the missing wire for and is there is retrofit option? Does anyone have a suggestion or solution on how I can resolve this?
6.) I have tried to fit the Standard CCC into Vehicle 1 and disregard the extra wire/plug. However I found the metal Optical cable plug does not fit. It is the same shape and size, with equal amount of pins but there is a “knuckle” on the side which does not line up. Therefore the cable will not fit and slot into the plug. How can I fix this? Is there is retrofit option?
7.) FYI, all other plugs/cables fit OK in both the Standard and DVD CCC.
8.) Does anyone recommend that I should remove the wiring loom from vehicle one and fit into vehicle two (and vice versa)? If yes, I think this is out of my capacity and I will need to take to electrician or mechanic. Is there any publications or instructions on how to do this, is it hard?

After reading this post, can anyone see any other problems I might meet? I understand I will need to update the software/firmware after installation in both vehicles. I will take the cars to a BMW specialist and ask them to do this for me after the installation is completed. How can I check what is the current version?

Is there anything else I should consider now? Could anyone think of any other things/issues/problems/suggestions to make the upgrade go smoothly?

Lastly, I want to install a flush mount boot lid reverse camera. Is it possible? Where can I buy the parts and is it DIY?

I guess my goal is to do as much of this retrofit/upgrade myself with the least cost, if possible, without any cost and just my time and labour.

Quick update.

Vehicle 2: After a suggestion, I could not find the fan plug taped back on the wiring harness.

Vehicle 1: I have therefore removed the glove box compartment (and fuse box) from the donor car in an attempt to remove and install this wire harness into vehicle two. It appears I'm stuck - I don't know how far back the wire goes as I cannot see it clearly. I have tried to attach a couple of images as clear as I could. I am starting to reach the limit of my capacity and I am not sure I have the ability to go any further removing components to access where this plug ends....any advice on what I could do?

I have shaved off the "tit" from the video plug (optical cable) and it fits perfectly. I hope it's compatible and will work as normal.
