E39 Where is the LCM located

Hi All,

New member and in need of HELP!

I have an E39 1997 540i Auto and the Light Control Module has gone. Does anybody know where this is located?

there are 4 light control modules on ur car. which one are you interested in?

1) headlight aim control module;
2) headlamp control module;
3) interior lighting module; and,
4) lamp control module

if USA car then the LCM Lamp control module should be in the passengers side footwell behind the plastic panel.

It is in the same place on a UK car. Obviously the drivers side, plastic panel just forward of the door frame. Couple of bolts and a couple of plugs if I remember rightly. The easy part is taking it out, the difficult part and expensive is that it needs to be coded to the car. New unit cost me 300 and then 100 for the coding!!!!! Ouch! Hope this helps.
