E39 Wheel Bearings?

Are there multiple (inner/outer) wheel bearings on e39 's the reason i ask is i have this humming only when the wheel is turned all the way in either direction, how ever when driving straight or only turning moderately the noise will not present itsself. ive been to a few shops and no-one has been able to find any play in the front at all! now these were not bmw dealers so they may not know the set up100% and i imagine that perhaps this could be from an inner wheel bearing if this model does in fact have one seperate from the outer. i appreciate any help

thank you!

is it possible that as these hubs go bad the noise would exist prior to actual play in the wheel? i appreciate your feed back.

Funny you should ask this question, I'm about to change mine because under load I get a horrid grind, with the wheels off the ground ..... no play and run free no grind as soon as back on the road...... grind, so I would say yes, well I have mine and I'm about to do them.

A clicking sound from vibration from suspension when you spin the front wheel when off the ground spells out that the bearings have gone. They are prone to do so on this model after 70,000 miles. When driving with shot bearings it sounds like road noise rather than a whirr change them quickly if they are gone.

Update:

Fitted mine .........like a new car no noise whatsoever, took the old ones apart just to see and yes one had deffo gone as all the internal grease was burnt, the other was not so bad but was on its way, as said I only had any noise whilst wheel was on the floor, off the floor no noise or movement.
