hi Guys
iam going to buy an 2000 e39 528i, i checked 2 cars but one of them is for the US market and the other one is for the Euro market, they told me that the euro car is better so i need to know about the differences between the cars of 2 markets (mechanical differences ),,,,
plz answer
There are a number of differences, but they're mostly cosmetic. The european dashboard is thinner top to bottom, and therefore more attractive; the US model was thicker due to US safety regulations. The headlights usually have "city lights," which are small lights that stay on all the time. The speedometer may be in kph rather than mph. There will be rear fog lights in addition to the front fogs. Some of the interior comfort packages are different. More fold-down rear seats are available. There is a first aid kit in the eurospec model, and sometimes a fire extinguisher. The trunk-mounted tool kit will have a reflective triangle. Those are all the differences I can think of off the top of my head; there may be more.
If you are not in Europe go for the US version, as getting spares for the euro may be difficult, although I could get them for you and send them over, but theres the p&p to consider.

I have a mate in canada with a US spec 2000 528i and he has double vanos, but he did say that he had to change the seals a while ago and apparantly they are known for it.
