Has anyone tinted their E39? I want to tint my 97 540ia, but not sure what windows to do, or how dark or how $$$, any info or pics would be appreciated.

I recommend for you to go to a shop and get familiar with film quality and workmanship. Expect to spend between $200-350 for an excellent job. Don't be cheap as "thetintshop" member would say!
You'll be surprise how awesome the car looks with windows tinted. One thing I recommend is the tint/film color should be the same all around. DO NOT TINT THE REAR WINDOW DARKER THAN THE OTHER WINDOWS...
