Unhappy E39 throwing error codes. Need help!

So I drove back home from college for a doctors appointment (107 mile drive) and I stopped home for a little bit, got back in my car and went to get some gas. After I poured the gas, my service engine soon light was on so I went to Advanced Auto Parts to have them read the codes after my appointment. It was throwing a P1520 and P1523 error codes. I read that is has something to do with the VANOS but I couldn't find anything with both error codes showing up.

I have two concerns. First, what could be causing the error codes and can it be fixed fast? My second concern is if the car can still be driven. I have to go back to college tomorrow and I was wondering if it can't be fixed now, if it is safe to drive for that distance?

Thanks!

Yeah, it's the VANOS which needs to be replaced (I recommend DrVanos.com once you find which one you have). It's a frequent thing unless you get the reengineered ones at Dr. Vanos. It's safe to drive on as I have been doing it this whole time. It may mess with timing which might make some cylinders misfire but it hasn't done that to me but once. The only thing it affects is your engine performance and gas mileage. I plan on getting it done sometime soon I just haven't had the time or money to do it.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking it was the Vanos as i just installed new gaskets on it. They were pretty tight. Well thanks.
