E39 Service ?! - BMW Forum

Hello !

Guys There is an E39 1996 528i Engine M52B28 I6, Drove An 200000 Mile....

Is it good and worth it ? What Kind of Service need to be done on it and could it be a monster again ? or an old useless bimmer ?

It's used and the owner was not a care car person.. So the car in BAD condition...

It has the old gear box D 3 2 1 and got damaged valve ... Need to replace it with new Gear Steptronic

Leave it alone, if it has valve damaged it could have cam or cam-chain issues...
The money you would pay to get the engine right AND a Steptronic box, would easily buy a better one !!

hi everyone, have a 1996 520 manual, anyone know how easy it is to change the engine with a straight replacement (second hand one)? been told it would take 16 hrs, accordin to autodata, they also say it would take bout 3 hrs to change a thermostat. any help!!!!
