Question E39 Instrument Cluster Help

Could anybody please advise on how to take apart the e39 instrument cluster to gain access to the darn LED displays? I know that there used to be a set of instructions posted on the net, but cannot find it anymore.
Thank you.

What are you trying to do with the LED display? If you are trying to fix the missing pixles its not going to happen.

That is exactly what I am trying to do. However, I wanted to instal the chrome gage rings while on it.
Why getting rid of the missing pixels is so difficult?
Thanks

Because each pixel isn't an individual LED that can be changed. Its almost like an LCD screen on a watch where there are a group of "pixles" that come on at different times depending on what needs to be displayed. If you were an electrical engineer and knew how to build those sort of boards from scratch I'm sure you can fix it, otherwise you have to get a new cluster.
