Help please I just had my E39 520 serviced at a non franchise dealer and they didn't reset the service lights. I got a reset tool but can't find out where it plugs in , Any one got any ideas? Cheers ali
lol, open the hood on the passengers side close to the front of the car you will see a small black circular connector.. just screw the lid off and plug in.. look around closely youll see it, its right on top...

Did you find it. If you have a 2000 540, the OBD socked it located below, and to the left of the steering wheel, inside the car -- not in the engine compartment. The connector in the engine area is where the dealer plugs in their big computer connector, but the smaller OBD reset tool/code reader plugs into the one in the cockpit.
