I have a 2000 e39 540 sport AT. On the dash near the climate control fan button is another button with "Rest" on it. Ive pressed it, dont think it does anything, the led indicator has never lit up. So, can anyone help me with what this button is supposed to do?
If I'm not mistaken, I think it directs warm air from the engine bay into the interior after the engine is turned off...or something like that, check the manual, it's in there.
It's the "Residual Heat System." Cosmos is right, it activates an auxillary heat pump which heats the interior of the car for about 30 minutes after the car is turned off. It operates only when the key is in position 1 & 2.
