e39 climate control system making noises

hey guys i have a 528i sport and i have noticed that the Climate control is making a grininding sort of noise when on a low setting and when its high fan its sometimes stops even though the bars are still on high?it sounds like the engine is farting and i can feel vibrations neer my leg?

any ideas?

depends on whether it's a blower motor or one of the stepper motors. More than likely it's the blower motor as bill said. The blower motor will be your most expensive repair because of the labor involved. If you haven't replaced the final stage resistor then I would take care of that while replacing the blower motor. Labor will probably be 1.5-2hrs depending on the shop and I don't recall the average price of the blower motor.
