E39 climate control - BMW Forum

seems to be a little fan in the climate control panel, it runs 24/7 regardless of ignition on / off etc, any ideas?

No idea but my 97 525 TDS seems to do the same.....

Maybe somebody will come along with a sensible answer soon

Thank god for that! I'm soooo relieved, I really thought I was the only one with this huge problem, now I feel better in the knowledge I'm not alone with this! Still no remedy or don't know whether or not it's supposed to run continuously, not really that concerned but if it is a fault you can buy a complete unit off ebay quite cheaply..probably cheaper than getting it repaired

the fan is used to get the interior temperature, it sucks in air and a sensor measures the temp, usually used in automatic air conditioning systems....as long as your battery is not draining from it i wouldnt be too concerned about it....does your car have the 'parked car ventilation feature'? if it does that may have something to do with it

Hi, It does have climate control, it needs the a/c re-gassing may be why the fan runs continuously, car does have climate control, individual sides but parked vent sys? dunno, thanks for the info, it's probably been doing this forever so not worried, Martin
