I have an irritating buzzing noise in my dash board/steering wheel area that I would love to get rid of. It shows up when I'm traveling on any slightly rough road surface. I hear it at speeds above 20mph or so, and it is not there at all on smoother roads. Has anyone out there encountered this on an E39, and, more importantly, found a cure?
I started a string on this very topic not too long ago. I've pushed and pulled on a lot of stuff trying to find it. I've even taken the lower dash apart. I'm starting to thing that it's coming from the steering column, but I haven't got up the courage to try and take that apart.
There's a screw under the steering column shroud, see if maybe it's come loose. I don't know of anything that could cause that kind of noise from inside???
