My 'Check Brake Lights' message came on but lights still worked. But Left Brake Light was 'dark' in color, so I changed it. The new bulb immediately burned out. I did get the more expensive bulbs with the silver-colored base.
Second replacement also popped, and the 'Check Brake Lights' message has returned.
Ideas on how to check / clean / fix are appreciated. Thanks!
make sure you are using the 21W bulbs or you will still get the error message. as far as the bulb popping instantly...sounds like a dead short. I would start by pulling the tailight assembly and checking for any pinched/chafed wires.
